Gregory White
Gregory White began yoga studies with Fred Dowd in 1996 after deciding in his early 30’s that his low back pain was due to being old. He realized soon after that he was deluded in this thinking and did something about it. After five years of regular classes and practice, he could reach his toes with straight legs and he started teaching.
Greg completed Iyengar Yoga Certification in 2008 and earned his Level 2 CIYT. He participates regularly in workshops with Eddy Marks and Mary Obendorfer, Randy Just and Lois Steinberg. He has attended triennial conventions of the Iyengar National Association of the United States (IYNAUS) in 2007, 2010 2016 and 2019. In December 2014, he traveled to Pune, India for Yoganushasanam, a 10-day intensive with Geeta Iyengar.
Greg finds BKS Iyengar’s methodical approach to studying and teaching yoga very compatible with the precision and attention to detail demanded of him as a professional musician. Likewise, the meditative, transcendent aspects of humanity are manifest in both yoga and music.
